It would seem the theists have no answer for this question. I thought they had an answer for everything.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.
-- Homer Simpson

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.
-- Superintendent Chalmers

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
-- Ned Flanders

Once something's been approved by the government, it's no longer immoral.

We're here, because everybody's got to be somewhere.

And will SOMEbody please tell Schroedinger to open that box and have a look...

Seems to me most of you couldn't careless about the great gift of life you've been given. To the OP, God doesn't decide who goes to heaven or hell, each individual does that and God grants them their choice.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Funny how that goes.  From my side it looks as though Christians obsessed with heaven and hell in the 'next' life are the ones who couldn't care less about the great gift of life.  If 'heaven' or 'hell' mean anything at all, they must refer to something you experience in the moment.  The idea of an eternal heaven or hell which comes later just seems infantile.

Although it was "given" to me, I do care about it. In fact, I make very good use of all my time here. I certainly don't waste any of my time going to church or talking to a figment of some goat fuckers imagination.

You on the other hand, squander your time. You pray all night to nothing. You waste your time congregating in church only to be swindled out of your money.

We're here because the aliens who had a picnic here didn't clean their boots properly before they left.

I can actually personally answer this question.

I'm here because my wife and pets need me. And while I'm here I'll try and do whatever little bit of good in the world that I can.

Talk to the Syrian refugees about 'the great gift of life'.  Sit down for a chat with a Sudanese child who hasn't eaten in four days, extolling what a great gift she's been given.  Wax rhapsodic to the mother whose infant died 30 minutes after being born about that 'great' half hour gift.

All the evidence points to life being anything but a 'gift'.  A gift implies a giver, and all the signs tell us that the universe is a pitilessly indifferent place.
