There was no guessing to it, God's the only one who came to me and wanted to give me the wonders He promises. No other god has ever shown up.

I wouldn't worry myself about that if I were you. If Allah happened to be real you want make it before him.

Luckily I understand that you refuse to accept that the word you want here is won't not want. Thought we'd been through that several times.

"If Allah happened to be real". Oh how my sides split with the pure irony.

Ah, but there are things that some religions have that most of the others don't.

 - Billions of people who worship every day.
 - People who have and continue to give up their lives for their beliefs (why would they do that if they were wrong?)
 - A holy book that has spread around the world
 - The holy book that revealed scientific truths before science discovered them

So, when you put all of these facts into practice, it's undeniable that Islam is right!

So Heaven would be eternal punishment for someone who doesn't want to go there.  Okay.

And isn't this place also supposed to be eternal punishment?

How is it you so easily missed the simple statement I made?

Make it simpler then, for my simple mind.

You still have not aswered the oringinal question.

Why not just ask us after we were created?

"Abracadabra! now you exist. Do you want to hang here or be tortured for all eternity?"

Instead of this insignificant mortality thing? Really, what is the point?

They are saying that they do not want to be saved by the god you believe exists. Which is understandable, because the god described in the Bible is a scary combination of a being who is both unpredictable and unstoppable. But if it's a god who is truly kind and loving and generous and wants the best for us, I don't see anyone who would reject that. It's just not what they expect from your god.

Godschild Wrote:Being saved can't be God's choice,
I don't see why not. God is no ordinary parent, imperfect and sinful and unable to do much more than bring a child into the world and try to raise it as best they can. God is perfect in every way and able to provide much more than any human can, including knowing exactly what is best for each and every one of us. To leave us to our own devices is to ensure that most of us do not get what he actually wants for us. That seems very cruel.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Double post.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

So then, we really don't have a choice.

God created humanity, knowing all along that the vast majority will be punished for eternity. Nice!
