Some numerical facts if you're interested in that kind of thing:

• Just over 48 years (48 years and 14 days to be precise) elapsed between SCOTUS legalizing interracial marriage (12th June 1967) and SCOTUS legalizing gay marriage (26th June 2015).
  
• Exactly 12 years elapsed (to the day) between SCOTUS legalizing sodomy (26th June 2003) and SCOTUS legalizing gay marriage (26th June 2015).
  
• It took 11 years, 7 months, and 8 days for gay marriage to be legalized in all 50 states, starting with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision (18th November 2003) and ending with SCOTUS legalizing gay marriage in the US (26th June 2015).
  

Now we sit back and wait for professor to use those numbers in an equation that ends with the mark of the beast.

That's not how the SCOTUS works.  Barring Constitutional amendment, gay marriage is the law of the land.  What will happen next will be a push for 'religious freedom' exceptions in administering marriage licenses to gay couples.  Specifically, religious wingnut public servants will put up a stink and decline to issue licenses, which will result in lawsuits that will slowly climb the ladder until they reach the SCOTUS.  

That's the next hurdle, and years away.  But, even if the SCOTUS deems that individual public servants can't be forced to issue such marriage licenses due to their religious convictions, gay marriage will still be legal.  Only a Constitutional amendment can undo that now.

-and if their religious beliefs prevent them from performing the duties pursuant to the job...then they shouldn't have taken the job, this situation can be remedied in a heartbeat.

In the history of justice in this country, it is damned near impossible once rights are extended, to take them away. Unlike the ACA, which they will try to undue and continue to fail, gay marriage will stay, just like when interracial marriage became nationwide. Just like women getting the right to vote. I can bitch about lots of  the problems this country has had, but progress always happens, it takes time, sometimes you take a couple steps back, but we've always progressed.

The only thing you really are going to see now from the GOP is lip service, and loopholes to discriminate outside that institution of marriage. But no, there is no chance now that gay marriage itself, will be reversed. Only a constitutional amendment would work and that would take a 2/3rds majority state vote and considering the growing climate of acceptance especially with the younger generation, that would be highly unlikely. 

I'd be more worried about what a GOP Pres SCOTUS appointment would do to our economy considering the floodgates they have opened already with Citizens United.

What's more, it is trivially easy to laterally transfer a government employee to a position where his or her religious sensibilities will not be an issue.  I'm sure there are plenty of county workers who would not have such objections to issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples and who wouldn't mind being trained in the Clerk of Court office.

Sorry kids, but the USA is well and truly fucked now.

NZ legalized same-sex marriage almost two years ago.  Since then, we've had plagues, famine, fires, wars and volcanoes belching Marmite.

Ireland passed this rubbish just around a month since, and the nuclear radiation is still ravaging the countryside.

In fact, all countries where men are allowed to marry men and women are allowed to marry women have suffered drastically - Finland, Norway, Sweden and all the rest.  Currency failures, women cohabitating with turtles, trees spontaneously melting into foul smelling puddles...Disaster after disaster...

Wait, what?  You say NONE of this has happened?  Countries with same-sex marriage, where they have the unmitigated gall to extend basic rights to gay people, have gone on pretty much as before, with the exception that the population is fractionally happier?  *sputter sputter fume fume*

What the hell is the world coming to???
