I thought this explanation was interesting. It makes me wonder how anyone can be a Christian knowing the problems with mistakes in biblical translations.

There is a lot of interesting points in the article. For example, I did not know that the story of the adulterer in the gospels was not in the original text but was added later.

Newsweek has it backwards, for the Bible to contain an errant word of God, there would need to be an explicit verse noting that, and there isn't a god.

Even if a god exists it doesn't follow that said god reveals itself via books.

This is a great segment.

But Constantine sided with those who believed Jesus was both God and man, so a statement of belief, called the Nicene Creed, was composed to proclaim that. Those who refused to sign the statement were banished. Others were slaughtered. If a god wants to provide evidence that he is real (and why wouldn't he?) he should make his word appear in every home on the planet, at the same time, in whatever language the people spoke, printed on an unknown and indestructible material that was impossible to analyse... then i might start to think that this might be something worth looking at, but an old book on paper.. no, he needs to do better than that!
