The chains of hatred and anger are hard to break free from.
In this state, humans cannot see or think clearly.
Alas, emotions are powerfull things.
Capable of turning the wisest of men,
into stupid and ignorant fools.
I have a secret and it is down below!

I relish the right to criticise all I see around me....heck all around doesn't pull any punches in criticising me??

I don't hate people.
But damn I hate some of the things they do.

I wasn't directing that at anyone, I just hate how this country bows to threats. They blow up a coffeeshop, we bomb a village into oblivion, so far American shock and awe > militant muslim killing innocent people cuz it's kewl. I understand and would feel really bad if the creators of South Park were hurt. But who are we if we bow to these cockbags just like everyone else. Threats from insane goatfuckers never makes censorship acceptable.

When it comes to religious discourse, I always claim my right to offend and express my believes and sentiments about that belief.
But I won’t go out of my way to be disrespectful. This sort of thing does give atheism a negative image.
When I first read that post, my gut reaction was "Yeah, there's no reason to be offensive"... then I clicked Kudos and forgot about it. Now I come back and read the rest of the responses and I have removed my Kudos. The others are right. Why do them the favor of withholding your scorn? They certainly aren't withholding theirs. Besides, this is atheistforums.org. Home turf. We can be as open about our feelings here as anywhere else... or more so.
Everyone seems to think that religion is something that must be handled with kid gloves. 'You must respect the beliefs of others', we are told. That's bullshit. I don't respect the beliefs and I don't respect willful ignorance. I may not be as verbally aggressive about it as some, but I do agree with the sentiments when I read them. The religion of Islam is retarded and hypocritical... just like the rest of them.
One on one in the real world is a bit different. I will try to remain more civil than I might in an online setting, but that is only because it is the only productive way to have a conversation, rather than a heated argument/shouting match. That isn't the same as 'respecting them'.

Outrage is a natural response to the act of others imposing on your rights.
I think the fault lays with moderate Muslims as well, as they let this kind of thing happen under the guise of belief and strong convictions. I think it's our responsibility to make sure this kind of thing DOESN'T happen in a society that values freedom and doesn't succumb to violent threats.
When Bill O'Reilly said that he wouldn't have a criticism of Muhammad on his show for fear of repercussion, it became clear to me that he has become a steaming pantload, and I do believe America will passively follow his example.
What good are freedoms if we aren't ready to protect them?

All I can say is... when they fuck with my South Park, they fuck with me. They fuck with me, they get fucked.
That came out a lot different than intended. But, I'm not changing it just because I read it wrong and others might as well. lol

I actually do agree about not going out of ones way to be disrespectful (I interpreted this as there is subject... don't go off of it simply to insult them). I do however find that being disrespectful when it is 'in one's way' is quite fine
