it has 8 boxes that must be filled with numbers 1-8.

i don't know how to explain the rules but let me illustrate it

this is wrong because 5 should not be near at 6 also with 4 we should replace it by 1,2,3,7,8.
this is horizontal same through as vertical and diagonal. thats wrong

still this is wrong. number 1 is in the correct position but 5 and 6 are not because they are near with each other if we will look at it diagonally.

Can't be done. With the range of numbers 1-8 in that grid, at least two next sequential numbers will always be in contact with each other diagonally no matter what you do.
