It's not like we don't have anything to be angry about, but when we point it out they want to go to the grandma who prays to make her feel good about herself. Instead of something like the lawyer or preacher who want to have all the gays killed. Or the politicians who try their darndest to turn this country into the christian Saudi Arabia.

I agree with everything you said except the anger. Mine is something less than anger/outrage but more than miffed. How about irritated? I'll voice my opinion about it but it's not something I'm willing to go to the mattresses for.

It's all anger, just in various degrees.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

I think when people say atheists are "angry" they really mean "aggressive." The two often go hand in hand but don't need to.

Personally, I very, very rarely get angry, and I practically never get aggressive.

That's only natural because everyone tends to hear the ones bawling the loudest. And there are quite a few prominent atheists, who fit the bill of angry and loud. It's the same with us and christians. That's at least my observation.
