I expect more from the NFC South than the AFC South, actually. The only consistently decent team on the AFC side is the Colts, but on the NFC you have the Falcons and the Saints(last two seasons notwithstanding) that have been consistent over the past decade or so. I think the real surprise is that the NFC South was able to produce two decent teams without one of them being the Saints.

Well yeah, there's that. What I was getting at was that it was my impression that nobody expected much of anything out of the NFC South, and there's currently two teams with 13 wins and 1 loss between them (and as you said, one of them is not the Saints). I certainly wasn't expecting that this year. Last year, yeah. Next year, who the fuck knows. But this year?

It is pretty mind-boggling, especially Carolina going undefeated this far.
On another note, having a 6-0 and a 4-2 team in the NFC North isn't really a common occurrence either.

Not lately, anyway. Historically it's not too unusual to have a couple of good teams out of the NFC north/former central.
The NFC west is upside down... It's like we've stepped off into the surreal.
Thank parity, I guess.

I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
For context, this is the previous verse:
"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

When you're on your 3rd string quarterback, these things happen.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

At least you've never had to suffer through a Tebow season. 8-8, win the division because no one else wanted it and get anointed the savior of the franchise.
Still, Manning only has one more playoff win as a Bronco than Tebow did despite three times as many visits to the post season.
Soon to be a fruitless fourth.

I hope for Denver's sake that they have an exit strategy WRT Manning, because the fat lady has been warming up for years.

I sure haven't seen one. When I ask around about Osweiler I get a few who think he'll do well, a few who think he'll suck and the vast majority who don't know 'cause we've never seen him take a meaningful snap. I really have to wonder what the front office saw in Manning that made them think it was worth it to bring him back for another year. It's not like he was playing stellar football and got edged out in the playoffs by the eventual champs. Hell, it's not like the fat lady's even warming up anymore. She's half-way through her aria.
I've never actively wished for an injury to a player, especially on my own team, but I'm near to it now. The Oz man is in the last year of his rookie contract. If Manning finishes the season, the only way we find out if he's got game is to sign him to a bigger contract during the off season. There have been too many "practice warriors" who never bring it during the games and Randy Moss types who can ball come Sunday but don't practice worth a shit to convince me that the coaching staff really knows what they've got.
After watching Manning's body completely fail him on the field, I'm much more sanguine about Elway's retirement timing. It would have been far more painful watching him struggle like this that it was to see him gracefully step down as the only QB to retire as a current Superbowl champion.
I still think he had one year left though, and had he been there instead of Griese, they may have cemented their place in history as the first ever to three-peat.
