My grandparents who mostly raised me also smoked all the time.
I'm so glad that kind of thing is becoming much less socially acceptable, now. Yeah, my grandma lived with me growing up, too, and she smoked a ton as well.
It does seem to have long term health consequences.
I saw a pregnant woman in a bar once, in my 20's, and she was bumming a smoke off some guys. I actually slapped it out of her hand. Now, 5' tall, 100lb me never does that kind of thing, but I was seeing red. I couldn't believe these guys were letting an obviously very pregnant (and very pretty) girl borrow a smoke!
Sorry, don't mean to derail Cd's quitting thread.
I'm super glad for both of you. It only gets easier as time goes on.

Today has been a bit of a struggle. A couple of times, I wanted to go buy a pack. I haven't had a smoke in damn near three months.
The last time I relapsed after quitting for a lengthy period (nearly 2 years), it was during a big layoff at a prior employer. We had a big reorganization today, accompanied by a layoff. Ugh.
Still haven't smoked, though - and I'll be damned if I'm going to.

Yeah it does. I'm so over the nic addiction, now it's just that crutch I used to reach for when I was stressed. That's a bitch of a habit to ditch.
