Hello all.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Mike. I'm not well studied in Atheism or any sort of religion at this point but have never been drawn to Godly concepts that magically absolve me of my bad deeds and devalue the only life I believe we are given; one here on Earth. I tend to see religion as a stepping stone in human development when we didn't understand basic psychology and local government was sparse. A multi-purpose woobie that set the law and helped early civilization deal with an early death and fear of the unknown. I'd rather see humanity address the problems we face in the here and now instead of deferring our human issues into the next life.

Ah yes, there's a very simple answer to that question, but it's very hard to follow. Don't be raised by devote believers.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
