Gun owners?

RE: Gun owners?
Quote:I don't think the second amendment means everyone has a right to high magazine capacity assault weapons.

Actually when it was written it referred to the state militias...a phrase which oddly is still there but gun nuts seem unable to read.  Probably learned that kind of cherry-picking from their fucking bibles!

Quote:"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Granted they were talking about a musket and a bayonet not an assault rifle.

I don't even keep my guns loaded in my apt. I'm pretty confident in my combat training on how to defend myself with my hands. Same goes for in public. I mainly own my guns because they are fun. I enjoy recreational shooting. Now if the shtf so to speak I will have them to use but otherwise, I'm good. Though if anybody else is wanting to carry for defense then sure go for it. I sometimes do in rough areas.

Never owned, never fired one.

In all honesty guns have never really interested me.

Of course, where I come from - Australia, they really tightened up the firearms laws after the massacre in Tasmania.

ANd where I live currently, New Zealand, the laws are VERY strict on the ownership of guns.

Yes, I'm aware of the well regulated militia part. Likely to fill in for a standing army, because over half of your discretionary spending should not be going to the military industrial complex.

Yes the 2a gets misunderstood allllll the time down here in the south. But the musket and bayonet thing....that was of the time period. So that was equal to what the military had. So to me it only makes sense for the most part what the military carries, we can carry. And yes fully auto firearms are legal though the process to acquire them is hellacious.

Guns.
I love 'em.  I own:  a shotgun, two 9mm handguns, and two .22's.   The 22's, of course, are just because they are fun to shoot.
I absolutely love target shooting, so my opinion on the matter is . . . complicated.
I'm also a single woman living alone.  The loaded shotgun stays by my bed.
Could I pull the trigger?  If someone was in my house, you bet.  I'll go to therapy after.

BUT . . . I think they are way too easy for someone to buy.  When I bought my first gun, I had to fill out papers, have a background
check, get fingerprinted, and wait - - 30 days, I think.  Now . . . they just take your contact info and drivers license.

And with increasing violence in the media and in video games, it's even easier for angry guys to associate guns with personal power
and vengeance.

So, if the time comes when guns are banned and I have to give them up, I will.  I'll be particularly sad over my STI Elektra, but I will
give her up.

It's an Elektra, Brian.  She's one of the glitzy ones with the red pearlite grips.  It seems very strange to say that the gun doesn't have balls.
