"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Lol sorry I had to. But I totally agree with you Crossless. This forum is about having discussions in general. We will always discuss our main topic and points of disagreement, but we are also all people and there is a plethora of topics to engage about regardless of our personal beliefs.
There's no arguing with Sheldon. ![Smile Smile](https://atheistforums.org/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Just to add to my point, it's not as if I primarily identify as an atheist, and I don't run around IRL looking for religious arguments -- something that I'm sure would be easy to find in Louisiana. Obviously, I like arguing about religion or I wouldn't be here, but there's so much more to life.
And I didn't mean to omit you, lkingpinl. You're another who has made efforts to present yourself as something other than just another Christian to argue with.
No worries. There is honestly very little I take offense to. I came here to discuss things with people of differing beliefs but in the process have developed some friendships and discussed poop much more than I ever thought I would in my life.
My father-in-law is hilarious when he gets upset about something and wants to argue about it, he says, "we need to have a loud discussion about that".

I've posted on a few of the 'light hearted' threads - from favorite swear words to fountain pens. But really, I must say that I find them kinda boring. And besides, how are you supposed to convert anyone on a thread about craft beers? :-) I think much of the personal stuff does come up within more serious debate threads. I would say the more recent trend among believers has to been either using real pictures of themselves as avatars and using real names. I've always used my real name, but CL and Kingpin have inspired me to use a photo of myself as well.
Great! I'm glad to hear it ![Smile Smile](https://atheistforums.org/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Good to see what you look like. My avatar is me trying to shave. I am generally fairly introverted but this forum has brought me out of myself.
Once I'm cleaned up and ready to go, I look more like this:

OMG I think my wife has me trained. Is it bad that the first thing I noticed was you need to change the roll of paper towel?
Btw, I love the mismatch socks. My kids started doing that this past year and I loved it. My wife can't stand it (she's a tad OCD), but hey as long as they have a sock on each foot, it's all good.

Haha, thanks ![Big Grin Big Grin](https://atheistforums.org/images/smilies/biggrin.gif) That is a photo from a few years ago now. I was semi-feral, I've been trained more since then. But I still often wear odd socks. Some people seriously cannot handle the concept. They point it out like it's the same as having a poker stuck through my eye.

This is how I was raised, and this is how I would like to be addressed and so it is how I believe I should address others. Plain and simple.
Pardon me if I can't take your word for it, even if there is a little smiley face next to the sentence. I think it's entirely possible that this is how you genuinely are in real life, however I think it's possible that it's not.
The no true Catholic_Lady fallacy, really? Lol

I just wanna say, I invented that.
I started doing it back in high school (10 years ago) before it was ever a thing.

I'm the type of person that doesn't embarrass easy, in fact I tend to wear odd things just to make other around me embarrassed. I have little shame. I was once camping with the family and a large group of our friends and each morning we made a big group breakfast. I came out of our tent wearing my wife's sports bra, boxer shorts and knee high striped socks with sandals. I will see if I can dig up the pic.

I bet you've got another pair like that, haven't you?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
