You come into an atheist forum to preach, and then you wonder why the discussion sometimes gets insulting?  Wow.
Most atheists don't spend hours and hours trolling Xtian forums, trying to wreak havoc.  Why bother?  Intelligent, literate adults can make their own choices regarding what to believe.  That choice is none of your business.

It's easy to insult people who are often openly hostile and have tender feelings. I try not to make personal insults, but I'm also not one to try to punish people for being who they are. There's a lot to criticize about religion. Not the least of which is the bad reputation that theocracies and dictatorships have in the world.

When religious people meet in the public sphere, often it takes on an adversarial character. Without blaming anyone specifically, an adversarial situation encourages blaming, generalization, stereotyping, and projection. However, I think it would be a mistake to attribute the behavior of people in adversarial situations with how they are outside of situations of conflict. To generalize that atheists are angry as people when they are angry when engaged in conflict is short sighted, and neglects the contribution of the context to their behavior.

When one could fantasize that reality is not what it is discovered by those dedicated to Un-preinfluenced study of it to be, but is instead what idiots from 2000 years ago and down through the ages since, just as idiotic but even less informed then oneself, had asserted it to be, then one could certainly also fantasize that one is not all the more of an idiot or dolt for so fantasizing.
