"I don't want a canned answer.  I want the truth.  How do you genuinely feel about being called a phoney?"
"I, uh, obviously don't like it.  I said it before in another thread that was eventually closed.  And if you don't like how I respond, how do you think I should respond?"
"There's no way you should have (grammar's a bitch, ain't it?) responded.  That's the point."

I mean... fuck, man, that's pants on head retarded.

Precisely.

I think my point flew totally over both of your heads. Let me put it in a cliche "There is no right answer, but there are definitely wrong answers."

Yep.  Cubicle by the window.

Totally and entirely off topic - but that's mine. At least from the outside.

You choose one that is predictable and boring. I mean I wouldn't take it too personal if I were you that I find you phony. I'm an exceptionally interesting and intelligent person and I find most people to be pretty boring in one way or another.

Yeah, the last thing I'm here for is to entertain you. So, sorry but not sorry. I'm gonna stay true to me.

Well I am unmoved from my original position and remain firm in the belief that you are not 'staying true to yourself', that you are a phony come here to paint Christians or Catholics in a good light and not to enlighten yourself as you claim. I have to go, but I can at least make you the promise that I will keep an open mind on the subject when it comes to future readings of your post or future interactions.

Definition of bigotry: intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.

Come on, you're on an atheist site! Anti-religious (your word)  site! What do you expect?

I'm not sure if I've been directly bigoted toward you personally (may have been) but I know that you've been caught in my shotgun blast posts and victim of the collateral damage of my intolerance of the belief/behavior. You've taken it personal when that was never the intent. Remember my "Kill them all, let god sort it out" post? Not directed at you at all but you took it as a personal offense and I apologized. What's interesting is the "Kill them all......" started out as a catholic saying when eliminating the Cathars.

Guess what, most of us are in the minority with our belief in our communities and we get the bigotry IRL on a routine basis. Happened to me this morning (I'm being prayed for). Bet dollars to doughnuts you don't get it with nearly the same frequency. Here on AF may be the only time you do receive it. I'm not sure why you expect something different or no intolerance. IMO that's not realistic on an atheist site.

So, I can understand that you feel bigotry here, you're in the minority. But don't fault us for speaking our mind about our belief/non belief in an atheist forum.

Want to try an experiment? Try walking in our shoes, not IRL, but just on the internet. Sign up to a xtian discussion site, identify yourself as an atheist and express some atheist views. Then report back.

Maybe I got ya wrong and that was not your intent either. It's much harder to tell when not IRL.

I understand MH, and I think you and others may be misunderstanding me. I like you and have never taken issue with you in the past. When I said there are people here who are bigotted against people of faith, I didn't mean merely people who disagree. Disagreement is 100% ok, and I'd never say it wasn't. I was not going to give any examples, but just so it is clear what kind of behavior I am referring to, here's one:

Someone on here asked me a question about what Papal infalibility meant. I responded to their question in a way that was nothing but objective, merely telling the person what it meant. I got a one liner response back, with the person calling me a "coolaid swilling bimbo."

That was one example of when I was not being condescending/rude to anyone, but got called something nasty anyway.

Btw, I did not take offense to your comment about killing all theist. And I told you that in a PM. The reason I pointed it out was because of a discussion I was having on another thread. I won't go into detail because I don't want to call anyone out. Just know I did not take offense.  Shy
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Mine is typical American Office Building (where I sit is circled in red):
