I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

No, you're interested in being an adversary.  You present a position and then want people to attempt to refute it.  You even mentioned refuting this thread's OP to abaris.  That's adversarial.  Contrast that with C_L, who has started many, many threads on here, where she starts with a question - "What do you think about X?" - and discussion flows from it naturally.  You want someone to prove you wrong (even though you routinely ignore refutations as though they simply don't exist).  She wants to know what we think of certain things, and why.  She is far, far better at generating legitimate, genuine conversation than you are.  And, like with so many other things, you'd be better off (and far more respected, if not liked) if you followed her example rather than your flaccid attempt at playing copypasta professor of apologetics.

Moreover, you're only interested in your one narrow thing - apologism.  You don't care about getting to know us.  You don't care about actually being a member of the community.  To you, we simply represent an intellectual challenge for you to practice on.  You merely want to present your five minimal facts over and over and over.  Again, C_L hangs out in the off-topic section.  She plays Mafia.  She goes into the atheism section and asks questions.  Same with kingpin.  They're not here to massage their egos, or to win a debate, or to use us as guinea pigs.  They're here to learn about us in totality.

And I'm honestly disappointed that so many people humor you.

But, yes, you're merely interested in being an adversary.  You may not think so.  You may not believe me.  But the evidence proves otherwise.  Consider that my one minimal fact about you.

Finally, until you decide to actually be a member of this community, this is my final interaction with you.

Kevin, this is why I like you so much. Hit the nail on the head. I don't shy away from the "heavy" discussions as most can attest and I've even been known to call out other theists I disagree with. I think to be respected here you need to show you identify as a person first and your belief system is secondary. We are all people with questions and varying experiences that can learn from each other by interacting. We are NOT segregated by our beliefs because at the end of the day no one is different from anyone else.

I enjoy the off topic stuff because it is still a part of life and a chance for people to get to know me better and vice versa. Also mafia is freaking fun! Where else can I lie and kill and not feel guilty? Wink

Look bottom line is don't treat people different because they believe different then you do. Say what you believe and be firm in your resolve but when it's over thank them for discussing and wish them a pleasant day they are a person and deserve to be treated as such.
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.

What an asshole. I never thought the basic, self-righteous bravado-type asshole could be improved upon, but it can: just add a layer of faux martyr complex and accuse everyone of being mean to you because they're the ones with the problems. Good grief!

I'm just thinking how glad I am I turned that scholarship to Georgia Tech down, even though I grew up in Georgia, so I could go to USAFA. (It was a toss-up because the GT campus was host to the Olympics in '96, and I went off to college in '94.) I would be ashamed to wear the same college mascot on my shirts as this moron.

Ok ya'll, I get that you guys don't agree with the way Randy presents himself and his views around here, but this is just getting painful to watch. Ganging up on someone and calling them nasty names is never warranted, imho. A few of these posts are just getting to the point of being character assassination. This is a real person here, with a wife and kids, and other loved ones. Let's not forget that.
