Incidentally, before someone else snatches it up triumphantly - it was Mary who was supposedly immaculately conceived, not the godboy.

You mean - Mary DID get her snatch pounded? Good for her... Tongue

Yep, Jesus wasn't the only Gospel character who got nailed hard.

Actually it is. Any living fertilized egg is a genetically distinct example of that species at its earliest stage of development. I completely agree that a woman owns her own body. The fertilized egg inside her is not her own body; but rather, another very very young human being with its own individual DNA.

It's (1) inside her body and (2) uses her bodily resources for its survival. If you respect woman's right to own her body, then you should respect her right to choose what to do with the fetus inside her body.

Again, though no has addressed if the father has a say.  This is what makes abortion so tough because of the variables involved in the decision.  That fetus is half the mother and half the father.  Let's not bring up cases of rape/incest, etc.  Lets speak strictly in terms of a consensual relationship.  The couple gets pregnant and the mother doesn't want the baby, but the father does.  Is it solely the mother's choice because she is carrying it?  It's tough.  Put yourself in the situation, if you are a man and your wife/GF/fiancee announces she's pregnant and you are over the moon excited, but then she tells you she doesn't want it.  How would you react?

"Well right now it's just a parasite feeding off of you and it's your body"
"Just a collection of cells and it's your choice"
"I've been dying to have a child and the baby is part of me as well"

I'm not lending any credence to one response over the other as I think each situation is different and that's what makes abortion so tough to discuss because it's not an easy blanket answer for all situations.

IMO, the father should only have a say if that's what the mother wants. If you think about it, it's the fair thing to do.

No one's saying abortion is easy, btw.

Well it seems the responses have been proposed as simple.  It's the woman's body and ultimately her choice what to do.  I don't disagree there as I feel any consensual sexual relationship should discuss the possibility of pregnancy and where each partner stands on conceiving and caring for a child.  I tried to ask Rocket this question (and maybe he will respond), because of his recent over the moon excitement of having another child.  I'm curious his reaction if his fiancee said that she was going to abort.  He does support the woman's right, but IMO the father should have some say as its his DNA as well.

But yes, this topic is very difficult for a number of reasons.

God or no God has nothing to do with this conversation. My religious beliefs have nothing to do with it. Please don't interject something that is irrelevant to the conversation.

So you're saying that the human being inside her has no rights whatsoever just because it is weak and vulnerable? Don't bother. I already know your answer. We can table it for an abortion thread.

Look at it another way. Would you rather the father forces the mother to bear the egg/embryo/fetus for nine months against her will? What if she changed her mind somewhere during the initial stages of pregnancy and decided she couldn't take it anymore? I would imagine it would cause her deep distress if she had to do what the father wanted instead.

Yes, it would suck for the father who really wanted a baby only to see his wife decide to abort, but woman's right to her body is more important to me than how the father feels about abortion even if his feelings also matter.

That's not what I said, but you wish I said that, don't you?
