That isn't what I meant, and that's not what I wanted to imply. Which is why I feel sort of bad for stating it in the first place; I don't want to seem contentious about a subject such as this, on a forum where you are administrator.

Going to a funeral and feel like I could scream.

What's my status got to do with anything?
Best regards,
Leo van Miert Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall --Torque is how far you take the wall with you ![]()
My condolences on your loss, Leo. And I'm sorry to hear that the funeral turned out to be so unpleasant for you.
And Watson, maybe you should try to remember that this is AtheistForums.org and that Leo experienced something related to his atheism that offended him while he was in the process of mourning. If he can't get something like that off his chest here without some Christian accusing him of hypocrisy... then where can he? No offense to you, but remember who's house you're in.
Sorry for your loss
![]() I'd be really angry too.
Condolences here too Leo. I'm also sorry to hear it went so badly.
I think your points of order are justified. I too would feel anger at such illogical assumptions being trotted out over what is, to everyone else attending, a very serious moment. Fucking idiot. I'm assuming that is also true.(That the person preaching really did believe she was going to Heaven.) By "rantings" I meant the pastor's arrogant preaching about life after death as if he knew anything about it. Imagine you know something that basically states that it is logically impossible to know anything about object X. Now imagine you run into someone who makes a living off of making others feel good by convincing them that he knows something about object X that cannot be known. Now, replace object X with prosperity promises and that certain someone with a fraudster. Now replace that prosperity promise with a prosperity gospel and that fraudster with an evangelical preacher. Now replace that prosperity gospel with what may occur to ones conciousness after death and the evangelical preacher with a priest. Do you get it? It is fairly simple logic. Liars lie and the others are stupid. (May 4, 2010 at 2:38 pm)Watson Wrote: I agree with that, EvF. Cliffs: Got an opinion? Too bad. Drink a nice tall glass of shut the fuck up. |
