The Pope - After a Week In 'Murrica

RE: The Pope - After a Week In 'Murrica
The 'One True Faith' wouldn't have had a pedo problem.

A faith aspiring* to be the "One True Faith" wouldn't have had a documented pedo problem for 1500+ years.

* funny if it actually works that way, ain't it?

CL, in fairness to the members here who take a dim view of the Catholic Church (I am one of them), no one has gone so far as to suggest they wouldn't schtup a Catholic. Even "bigotry" has its limits.

Yes, what those clergymen did was horrible. But I am still Catholic because I still believe in the teachings of the Church. None of which say pedophilia or covering up pedophiles is ok. I neither molested anyone, or protected anyone who did... so I shouldn't be judged for that. So when you say you don't like someone simply because they are Catholic, this sounds like kind of a bigoted statement.

I told you that I don't give a shit about "religion."  For people to willingly remain a member of such a corrupt organization is a red-flag for me.  You were in no position to molest anyone or protect those who did.  But those who were in those positions, did.

So what do you suggest me do? Force myself to stop believing something that in my heart I feel is true, only because there are people within the Church who are bad people?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I can only respond to this in one way:

Yep, they gave us repression. More importantly, to this hetero, they gave us the Catholic schoolgirl outfit.

Nah, Then again my issue has never been with churches, Never mind the swinging balls of gas and endless chanting.  No my issue is with the lovable genocidal, infantcidal, hate filled, bumbling, childish sky papi they all adore so much.
