National Lampoon documentary
September 28, 2015 at 6:50 am
I watched that new National Lampoon documentary, Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon, and guess who shot down that magazine? Yes, it's your unfriendly neighborhood Christians. While Muslims attack satirical magazines with guns and bombs, christian organizations call your sponsors and threaten them with actions against them, like not buying their products, so they feel forced to withdraw.
At that point magazine wasn't selling that great anymore so it was easy for religious nuts (as if there are any other religious people) to nail them down.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That figures. There's nothing that self-righteous, humorless, bullying twats hate more than satire. And that's why satire (and free speech generally) must be preserved at all costs.

Quelle surprise.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

What exactly was in there that they objected to?

Anything that's not in the bible?

And fun. They object to anything that is fun, too.

Same thing, really.

Well NL really made fun of religion all the time, but in the doc they claim it was because they made fun of religious groups. I mean what a loss considering they made fun of Vietnam war in such controversial way like putting mock "Baby book" for Vietnamese baby with entries like "Baby's firs wound" and "Baby's first funeral" I wonder what they would of made of war in Iraq.

Only when they're being dogmatic about their magic story. They're not called "fun dies" for nothing.
