HELPPPPP Blue screen error just now!!!

No friends to help with this and I can't afford even the cheapest of solutions.

I'm pretty much preparing from the best computer I've ever had to become broken soon, and I've only had it a few months.

I'm gonna have to use my phone... sigh. My posting is gonna super slow down

It's not . . . quite that bleak, my friend.  Of course, I don't know your situation. 

It's possible that it was overheating.  How long did you let it sit before rebooting?  How long have you used it with it set on a soft surface?  Do you have any way to clean the dust out of the vents?   (They can get clogged up fast, you know.)

If it's a new computer, you should have some type of warranty.  

Otherwise, take a break.  Boot it up tomorrow.  Run every virus/malware test you can find while you contact friends of friends to see if anyone works in IT . . .

It sounds like the issue may actually be that dual display detection causing a conflict.

Try looking up your computer's brand/model number and seeing if it is a know issue and if there is any known resolution.

To me it sounds like a driver conflict and not a hardware fault. Use your windows installation disk's auto recovery console and see if it fixes any missing files or dlls. After that, create a new restore point and update your drivers, especially your chipset and graphics drivers.

I have no installation disk

Don't have friends that work in IT... outside these forums I don't really even have friends :S

Thing is it's had this monitor error thingy for months so why would it only start blue screening because of it now? And it's not actually affected my computer it just was a little "error" message on my taskbar, for months, doing no harm... so maybe it's not that hmmm.....

Other thing is it keeps asking me to install windows 10 but I keep refusing because:

1. I'm fine with windows 7.

2. I dunno whether the installation will succeed and it might fuck things up.
And

3. It is only fear for a year or something and then it expects me to pay... which is no good because I need windows and don't have the monies!

But I hope Microsoft isn't so desperate to force me into getting windows 10 that it's fucking up my computer.

Since my last BSOD what I have done is used CCleaner to fix registry errors... and it found a LOT of them and cleaned them up... could that have been causing the BSOD?

Just an FYI, the upgrade is free for a year, then you have to pay for that.
However, once you get 10, whether it was a free upgrade, a paid upgrade, or an install on a new machine, you have it. Just like you have 7 now, and I had 8 before the upgrade.

Yeah, you get it free now, and you can't get it free anymore after a year.

Also, a fresh windows install might do wonders.

And Windows 10 is decentnot terrible.

I'm not sure if it's risk fucking up my computer... my laptop might not handle the install.

So unless Microsoft is giving me BSOD just to force me into getting windows 7 (LOL) then I guess I'll stick with Windows 7

I like Windows 7. I think Windows 7 is awesome and if Windows 10 is merely "Not terrible" then it isn't worth the upgrade ^______________^

I hated Vista and Win98 always seemed quite buggy, but Win95 and XP were awesome and I also like 7.

Actually I'll take that back, I had even less probs with Win98 than with XP. Win98 was golden.

Windows 10 is cleaner, less hardware intensive, and intuitive with displays. With Windows 8.1 I had to set up my TV/Monitor display.

With Windows 10, I merely had to plug the HDMI cable in, and it recognized my Samsung TV and set up the display on its own.

For me, the aesthetics do it. The lock screen has a changing hi-res photo that's always beautiful, Cortana is sometimes helpful but not intrusive, and updates happen in the background and tell you when they're ready.

If your laptop is new (and by that I mean made in the last 2 years or so), I would install 10, if only to get a fresh install of Windows. The fresh install could repair the problem outright. At the very least it will mostly rule out a Windows issue.

Win98 for me was the best version of windows. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend moving to win10 unless really necessary. However at least create a recovery disk for windows just to be on the safe side.
