The New Covenant

I know........ I know, as far as you're concerned, if I don't buy the fairy stories I must be uninformed.  Carry on with your fanfic-ing.  I'll try not to interrupt it again with any dispatches from reality.

A lot of the "prophecies" are just storytelling. They say something is going to happen, and a few pages later it happens. Wow! How could the author possibly know what he was going to write next?

Every prophecy in the Bible is pure BS.  But the contention was that the book of Jeremiah doesn't contain any prophecies.  The fairy tale writer did include some prophecies.

Even that was not truly unique  (Lev 19:18, 19:34)

If Jesus had said anything openly that was truly unique his words would have long ago been forgotten (Deut 13)

Hence parables, hence Peter's shock when he was shown in a vision he was to go to the home of a gentile.

However, subtly, Jesus did present things truly unique...

(Mt 9:17, Mk 2:22, Lk 5:37)  And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.... <<< this is yet to happen, the bottles have long since burst and the new wine has been spilt and soaked up by the dry infertile ground.

Well it's different to "love thy neighbour as thyself".

No, lol, Jeremiah contains socio-political commentary that the superstitious...and apparently you as well..insist upon calling "prophecy" despite there being no such thing as "prophecy" to begin with.

I hereby prophecy that you will respond to this post with something equally as ludicrous as your last response.

I'm a kjv girl so I tend to stick with that, but yeah, I know.

I realize King James had many helping with the 1611 translation.

The translation of the KJV 1611, excluding the margin notes/commentary, is around 80% identical to the Geneva Bible.

(November 10, 2015 at 10:01 pm)Aractus Wrote: So how did Christians get it so wrong? They believe the New Covenant is one made between God and all people through Jesus Christ as the mediator. They believe forgiveness has to be earned in some way (either through repentance, by faith, or by good works depending on the denomination). And they believe in the authority of clergy to teach about God - but God says in this covenant that no one will have to teach about him because he will personally tell all the Jews himself.

Because Paul said so. And apparently, one guy who claims to directly communicate to God and writes letters to your town to tell you how you should act, should be trusted. Supposedly, there were two witnesses to the first time God spoke to him, so we know he's not lying. Of course, we don't know the names of these witnesses, so we can't contact them, but Paul is the for really real deal.
