Quote: actually no. YEC/ Young Earth Creationists believe this. I for one believe that it has only been 5000/6000 years from the fall of man/exile from the garden.

To his credit, it couldn't have been much further back than that given the timeline of genesis.  To his shame, the timeline in genesis is grade F bullshit.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Why the Hebrews?
The reason Yahweh 'chose' the Hebrews is that they chose him. Yahweh was one of many Canaanite gods. As the various tribes settled in different areas of Mesopotamia, some of them adopted a single god from the pantheon as their tribal god, in much the same way that the Greeks had patron gods.

Originally, Israel called their god El or Elohim after the head god of the Canaanite pantheon, whilst Judah adopted Yahweh. The earlier stories about the pantheon as a whole became about El in Israel, and Yahweh in Judah (though some stories weren't shared by both tribes).

When Israel became united with Judah as the Kingdom of Israel, 'el' referred to any god, 'Elohim' became one of the titles of God, and Yahweh became his proper name.

Yes, - we know - man created god in his own image.  These were just tribal war/sky gods.  But sometimes, we ask a question here to point out some incomprehensible (to us) aspect of xtian belief, or to ask a resident theist what they think about the matter. That was the intention of the OP.
