I remember when automatic was an option in cars; as was carpeting, air conditioning, and radio. As a teenager I learned to drive a three-on-the-tree Ford pickup and had driven mostly manual drive cars until I had a child.
I haven't checked out new cars to see what might come in a manual shift these days. I drive an automatic 2005 Subaru Legacy wagon for every day. For fun I have a 1971 Super Beetle. (If you consider waiting to have your car towed home every so often, fun.)
