Looking to science for morals seems dubious to me too. Science doesn't offer any rules or guidelines for living together in a society. It's also not it's purpose.

No, but I think that is main basis of skeptical inquiry and peer review can help guide moral decisions, not to mention the fact that science, in the form of tech can really help solve moral issues like clean drinking water .

Science doesn't argue for everyone having access to clean water. It merely points out, it's necessity. Others argue for the right of people of having said access. Science is neutral. It's findings can be used and abused. That's merely common sense and what people make of it, is entirely up to different factors.

I think Science can answer some moral questions, I don't think that stat. should imply that "Most atheists look to science for their only morality", that would be parallel to some Christians and the Bible.

However, taking part of your morality from Science is great in my books,
is it really that bad to see Scientific studies about amounts of Homocides per area, and deducing that killing people has a negative effect on society?
is it really that worrisome to look at Scientific studies documenting the negative impact using Methamphetamine can have, and deduce smoking Meth is probably bad for you?

I think you forgot to include these things^ when questioning the statistic, forgetting that the fact that you make a moral decision that Violence, and Human Suffering are not something you partake in, as well is a Morality coming from Science.

I find this very puzzling.  You can certainly find statistics and facts from the scientific community, but statistics and facts are morality neutral.  What you decide to do based on those facts is a moral question.  It isn't a question answered by science.  It you decide to do what is most healthy for you and/or what leads to the least human suffering, you are making a moral decision, not a scientific one.  Science can only help you carry out that decision.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

I recall reading about a man who said atheism ruined his sex life...claimed that the absence of religion-induced guilt made it feel less naughty. And naughty=good.

I knew it was a bad example, but I couldn't think of a better one.

Still is sort of parallel to that statistic, just not quite the same situation.

While he didn't word it quite right, that's mostly what I took from what he was saying. I agree; I think science does a good job explaining things to us so that we're better informed about the world around us, and better equipped to make sound moral decisions and judgements.
