A food delivery employee was accidentally shot by a customer's gun in West Toledo.
Ryan Brill, 18, of Toledo was on a delivery about 8:15 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 5800 block of Rambo Lane. The customer, Anthony Wulf, told police he was placing his gun on the table before answering the door when his dog knocked it away.
The firearm hit the ground, fired once, and shot Mr. Brill's right leg. Mr. Brill was treated at ProMedica Toledo Hospital for injuries police said appear not to be life threatening.

What federal laws do you propose that are not currently in place?

Bans on ALL spray weapons and bans on big clips. 7 day waiting period for all other guns. Mandatory psychological evaluation. Bans on online gun sales. Close gunshow loophole. Liability laws for injuries or death resulting from use of the gun.  Mandatory stress training, meaning KNOWING how to use a gun under stress. Licence review like drivers licence. Mandatory viewing of ME exams of those who are victims of gun death. Limits on amounts of guns makeres can make per year.

Now again, nothing in those words says "take away all guns".

The people who need mandatory psychological evaluations on an annual basis are cops.  Get that passed and I will support it for everyone else except there aren't enough shrinks to do all of that evaluating.  Hey, become a shrink and you will have a guaranteed income for life!  Check out the programs at your local colleges.

I find this to be a VERY unlikely story. Yeah, sure - the dog knocked it away. What the liberal media don't want you to know is that Brill was only posing as a food delivery man. In reality, he was a commie Muslim homosexual psychopath who had killed the real delivery driver and was wearing his face (a la Hannibal Lecter) in order to gain entrance to Wulf's home so as to recruit him into ISIS. Mr. Wulf, who had just finished masturbating (gun in hand) to his latest issue of 'Captain America' courageously and selflessly wounded Brill in the leg, thus defending his rights and saving America for all right-thinking Americans.

That had to have been the first time something like that happened.  The FBI left all kinds of relevant evidence laying around and didn't even dust the place for fingerprints.  There's no picture of the woman shooter.  The FBI is totally incompetent or else it's a frame job.  The NSA is supposed to be spying on everyone in America but is asleep on a major case like this.  Someone is full of BS and it's not the bull.

I have never heard the terminology that you are using. If you are referring to full auto weapons then I'm not going to fuss about them as they are mostly banned already.

However, if you are talking about semi-auto weapons then I've got a problem with that.

This line you throw out as an appeaser saying that you don't want all guns banned is bull shit. What you would ban is everything other than a single shot. Fuck that.

Suppose you deny gun ownership because they are receiving treatment, either because they have sought counselling for depression or are taking medication. How many people would be discouraged from seeking treatment if they thought it would put them under state scrutiny? Especially people prone to paranoid delusions? We need to be aware of unintended consequences.

I really, really hope I'm missing your point.  Are you seriously contending that denying gun ownership to people prone to paranoid delusions is a bad idea?

If emotionally disturbed or mentally unstable conditions are not reported to gun licensing agencies, then you're widening the set of people with guns who should not have guns.  If these people and conditions are not included in some sort of database, what is to prevent the bloke who tells his counselor, 'I have dreams about shooting school children in the face' from buying a weapon and fulfilling his fantasies?

I'm saying that it is easier to say "some people shouldn't be allowed to have guns" than it is to actually define and identify who to disqualify and implement policies that actually work. In Illinois, people under certain forms of psychiatric care, like outpatient day programs, are required to surrender their firearm permits. That seems reasonable to most people, like a personal friend of mine, who entered such a program because she recognized that in her conditions she could be a threat to herself and others. The example you gave, of a person currently in therapy, is also already covered by law. Certain mental health professionals are obligated to notify law enforcement of confessions and statements suggesting that the patient is an imminent risk. The kinds of generally accepted provisions and safe-guards I just mentioned are much different than trying to predetermine who is not capable of responsible gun ownership by using mandatory mental health evaluations or subjective blacklists.

I am for banning guns too(in my perfect utopia) , but like you said it is a slim chance that will happen. I think it would take a couple generations, and unfortunately society might simply have to get tired over a long time over the death. I am under no illusion that unlike Trump you can deport 11 million people suddenly. 

But you are delusional in thinking the status quo  is acceptable. "Do nothing" and "me me me: and "Rights rights rights" and "other bad shit happens so do nothing", and especially "more guns" isn't cutting it.

So if we both want to reduce gun death, we have been doing it the right's way. We need national standards, state by state turns any regulations into a spaghetti strainer.
