Speaking of which, I believe Abrams directed the first 2 installments of the Star Trek reboot. He didn't direct Star Trek: Beyond, but did produce it. Trailer's getting mixed reactions, but I will be there on opening day...Hell or high water.
Im a sucker with any movie or show with the word star in it. Abrams made me believe in the idea that good story telling was also possible with a 'star' franchise! I did not know they made a third trek movie but I will definatly be there opening day as well ?
Don't get me wrong I love the OS and TNG! But any honest fan must admit it could be very hit or miss with an episode, or movie (Star Trek I great example of what I'd consider a miss, but trek ii ranks up there with empire strikes back and the force awakens as my all time fav star movies!
Abrams seems to get it not because he was a trail blazer like Lucas or Roddenberry, rather he gets it because he was one of the nerds in the trenches who loved the same aspects we love of the movies. He seems to have been tested and battle hardened to the "doctrine" of these franchises, and remains true to them when he could so easily go off the reservation and make them his own eg. Michael Bay/Transformers.
Something the franchise creators themselves tend to get lost in. Their core stories come from them, and gets shared by everyone, so they fall into believing their own hype and loose the pulse of the people. Trying to recreate or repurpose perfection. If Disney simply remains true to the formula with the next two, they can just start printing their own money

Damn, Han Solo was the only non-villain character in the entire storyline that I could stand.

Does no one like Voyager? I seriously dug that show. Not as much as TNG, but still quite a bit.
The OS was best in my opinion, followed by TNG , then Voyager. I never got into DS 9 for some reason (made me sleepy) and Enterprise was unwatchable because of Scott Bakula; he can ruin any show. Quantum Leap actually wasn't a bad premise for a sci-fi series, but Bakula turned almost every episode into a snooze-fest.
Best Captains: Picard, Janeway, then Kirk.
Don't judge me. I base that on the premise of who I would want to be my captain if I were an actual crew member on a Starship. Kirk is by far the coolest, but he's uh..slightly impetuous as well.
Had to work today, so I'll have to check out Star Wars in the A.M. before the mad rush. My son went tonight and I'm sure he'll tell me what to think when he gets home.

I just saw it with my son.
It was quite well done, I thought.

Finally saw it today with my daughter. Loved every second of it. I want to have Ray's babies. She's such a bad ass.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
For context, this is the previous verse:
"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Oh man, she loved it. She liked BB8 and thought Rey was cool as hell. I think I bored her to tears talking about it all the way home though. Haha I was setting her straight on the family tree.

They loved it. Can't get the youngest to stop talking about it. He's going to see it again tomorrow and he's offered to see it a third time with me....on my dime, course.
