Why I'm on these forums (Q/A)

RE: Why I'm on these forums (Q/A)
Indeed, atheism isn't a choice, it's a state of mind. If we are not convinced a god claim is true, then we are described as atheists regarding that claim, by definition. It's no more complex than that. Of course, someone can choose to present themselves "as an atheist" or not, and they may well lie about their true beliefs or lack of beliefs. Someone claiming to be a theist may actually be an atheist, too.

This idea some people have that all atheists are lying is absurd, I can tell you that. If someone says that, all they are showing is they are incapable of seeing another point of view. I don't assume any particular theist is lying. I think they are wrong, but I accept they probably really do believe what they are saying.

I heard no one say "I've come to believe that I have no vision of myself as being a soul because this and that, while properly basic vision of God or knowledge of God is a rational possibility, I believe it is untrue from sincere observation of myself, and I've looked at this and this arguments, and I've reasoned they are wrong for this and this reasons, I've also tried to come up with arguments myself and this is the best arguments I can come up with, but I think don't hold to scrutiny because" etc...

Also, I haven't seen anyone do what I did which is go through as much as unbiased debate with oneself...come up with arguments for and against, etc, and see which ones hold at the end, and how much you can modify your argument to counter argument.

People lost a magical feeling, gave up on it, and concluded all arguments don't stand for God, even when they refute them with the most irrelevant of remarks.

The problem is that your only connection to god/allah is a book written ages ago by people with a very limited knowledge of the world.

1.The "knowledge" shows what man thought they knew at the time
2."god" or "allah" was used when man didn't know anything (god of the gaps etc)
3.The "rules" and "morals" in the books were most likely derived from the culture and the leaders using it to control at the time.

That's my opinion at least.

And how do you know this? Because it seems rationally possible and even more logical to believe, if we are a soul, we can rationally see/observe we are a soul.

We can't see we are soul. Wtf does that mean?

I wrote this late. I mean to say "we can't see we are souls".

We can't see our souls even. Ok. That at least sounds like English.
How do you propose one should look at her own soul?

I think we constantly are looking at our souls. The question is how do we acknowledge we are what we are souls and realize we are looking at it and witnessing it? Stop believing in the unclean evil self a long with not believing in the dark entities (whether they are negative forces with in us or real dark beings that have their own existence), and the way to stop believing in uncleanness aspect of us, is to simply be true to oneself and acknowledge your vision when you see it without paying attention to unreasonable doubt (doubt for no good reason but simply noise wanting  to stay away from the truth).

Your beliefs regarding magical cleanliness and fairy bodies do not form a logical or coherent argument. If this were a test, your beliefs have failed to deliver. What you are claiming here, make no mistake, is that it is impossible for anyone to disagree with you, rationally. That no one could arrive at a different conclusion regarding fairy bodies, magical cleanliness, and themselves..than what you have. If you were hoping to test your reason...you might have to begin by disabusing yourself of the ridiculous notion that you are the only person in the room who can or does possess it. Don't you think?

When you tell me I have a soul, I don't believe you. That is -your- failure, not mine...especially if I actually do have a soul...which I don't. You routinely blame this failure on the non-believer, or on demons...ffs..but at some point, if you want to have a rational discussion, you're going to have to close that book of myth, accept responsibility for your failure, and actually -have- a rational discussion. You cannot continue to list the articles of your faith as though they were an argument which establishes the truth of your faith, claiming to have presented arguments for your faith, and claiming that anyone who disagrees with you has done so irrationally. Do you understand why?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. RE: Why I'm on these forums (Q/A)
I have a few questions on the "soul" for you. (Just want your point of view MK)

1.Does our soul have intelligence?
2.Does our soul have emotions?
3.Do animals have souls?
4.What is the difference between the soul and the brain?

It's hard to wrap my head around how you're thinking but i remember asking myself these questions as i became more skeptical on my religion:

1.What happens to the soul of people that live with brain damage?, they perceive the world completely differently compared to "normal" people
2.Humans have a superior brain compared to other animals which gives us emotion and reason, however there are also animals with the same traits so do they have souls as well?

btw, i personally don't believe we have souls and that we cease to exist as living beings once our brain loses function.

I came here to see if any other atheists had heard the bullshit story of atheists and polygraph tests.

Stayed for the conversation and desserts.

RE: Why I'm on these forums (Q/A)
I started off out of curiosity and because I had questions. I thought it was interesting/entertaining to hear about different views, etc.

Nowadays I'm here because I've made some friends and it's fun. I like being goofy and trolling the tolls is fun too.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

RE: Why I'm on these forums (Q/A)
A wise man once said "you cannot reason yourself out of a position that you didn't reason yourself into in the first place".  That is very true of religion, which cannot be reached by reason.  Once you're operating on emotion, which is all religion is, reason goes right out the window.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.
