The Ultimate Value and the signs of it in ourselves.

RE: The Ultimate Value and the signs of it in ourselves.
Why do people have feelings? Really?

Hmn. Either has to do with biology or magic...50/50, eh.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I'm asking why you feel you are right. Not why you don't feel you know you are right. Why do you have a feeling anyways? Why not becoem like Wallym, and not praise or condemn humans at all?

*sigh* Feelings, have an evolutionary advantage. Fear right two out of three times is safer than not feeling fear three out of three times when one is right.  Our brains are the products of evolution, not perfection, and not some ultimate design.

As to why I choose to praise and condemn?  Well, in part feelings. But, from the point of view of a human woman, living in North America, some things are better for me than others.  And some policies are better for women than others.  And some policies are better for North America than others.  And some policies are better for humans in general than others.  No human policy is better for the universe than others. It's all subjective, because it only matters to humans and other living things and it matters differently depending on which human or living thing you are. That's subjective.  That is to say it depends on whose point of view you are considering. Objective truths do not depend on who is doing the feeling.

I wasn't asking about feelings in general but specifically why you feel you are right. I'm not talking about praising or condemning policies, but the person. Why do you praise or condemn people (not their actions, as in them, people) and why do you feel you are right about it sometimes to a degree, for example, that your negative condemnation of Hitler (not just his actions) is right (not saying you know 100% but why do you feel that way, why do you have that feeling at all).

Why do you prefer vanilla or chocolate? You could either say "because I do" or luanch of into a long winded explanation of how your experiences of vanilla and chocolate differ and how proceeding from that you've chosen to favor one or the other.

Vanilla or chocolate is not right or wrong, it's matter of preference.  Personally, I don't have a favorite...it depends on what I'm in the mood for.

I agree we have subjective feelings of value of a person however is not solely about preference, but also related to standards, that relate to the belief there an an objective value.

That you think right and wrong are fundamentally different from a preference over vanilla or chocolate is betrayed by the many people who have varying descriptions of what is right, and what is wrong. You demand that it -be- more, regardless of whether or not it is and so down the rabbit hole we go with a never-ending series of "why" questions to which no answer other than your own will satisfy you.

...which is, ironically, the situation between vanilla and chocolate and any given preference for one over the other.

You keep saying this, but not supporting it with anything but word salad (so far as I can see).  In case I missed it, could you give an example of a choice or belief I might make that demonstrates I believe there is an objective value?

People have various views of right or wrong, but the fact they have views of it, says they all believe there is right or wrong. Now obviously we aren't going about the right way to discover objectively what we ought to praise or condemn, but, for sure, people would not have the view of right or wrong without belief that objective moral facts exist.

-as all people prefer either chocolate or vanilla despite not agreeing upon which side of that line they fall upon and for what reasons.

The way to determine if a measurement is objective is simple: if all people or machines or anything else capable of measuring apply the same criteria, must reach the same result, it's objective. Otherwise it's subjective, which tells you more about the tester, than the thing tested.
