Why would I feel sorry for a millionaire not being able to park his ass in the White House? He's still a millionaire and better of than 99percent of his fellow citizens. So, boo fucking hoo. If he was collecting food stamps right now, I might reconsider. But fat chance for that to happen.

It was overturned in 2004, and that probably put a bee in Santorum's bonnet. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

So would you have to create a special group of cops to handle this? The Anti-Anus Enforcement squad or Ahole Swat (that sounds interesting). ...hmmm....
It was a little more complex in RL than what SCOTUS saw.
Apparently Hardwick was caught inflagrante delicto (spell check no help this occasion) and the cops had entered his home/bedroom on an invalid warrant. Had Hardwick been a little more docile to the cops they were inclined to move on, except he wasn't, so they felt compelled to arrest him for something at that point, and away we go. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

See, today they would have just shot him and said they feared for the safety of their own assholes.
Anyway, this is why I came back to this thread.

Some of the arguments in the 2004 case were funny in the extreme. IIRC, one of the attorneys insinuated it would entirely possible for everyone in the building to have been guilty of something unsavory and the court should certainly weigh that consideration.
As I recall, the decision was 9-0 in 2004. Infer what you want about the existence of frisky jurists . . . The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Because politics is the mechanism through which to implement desired social change. If you don't vote, that is one less voice we have against people who oppose LGBT rights, support religious conservatism, etc. Politicians (whether you like it or not) are the ones who have the power to support or fight against bigotry; we must select the right ones.
Elections for your city council and state legislature are just as important as those for President -- elected officials at all levels must be truly representative of the people.
