Or, in other words... when someone thinks they're killing you, don't stand up and let them actually kill you: Play dead instead.

I feel like my birthday today is a metaphor day.

Happy Belated!

Thanks for the gaslighting when you know my mental health hasn't been great, jerk.

From my understanding, atheism is simply a lack of religious belief.  On the other hand, anti-theism is an active opposition to religion, but it seems that the term anti-theist has a very negative connotation to it: it comes off as militant.  IMO, if an individual voices his or her anti-theism in a civilized, respectful way and extends this same right to others while making a genuine attempt to understand the other side (blind disagreement is futile), then anti-theism is simply one of many ways to assert one’s individuality.

Assuming that I’ve understood the terms correctly, then I’m not an anti-theist: I see no need to oppose religion. Personally, I’d prefer to engage in interfaith dialogs (from what I’ve seen, they are more productive than debates) with the goal of finding some common ground.  Perhaps atheists, anti-theists, theists (etc.) would benefit more from these, provided that they have a skilled and competent moderator.

My apologies for occupying this space, but I was unable to edit my initial post.  I carelessly used religion and theism as if they were interchangeable terms.  It would have been more precise for me to say antitheism is an active opposition to theism, as there are religions that do not center around gods, such as Buddhism.

RE: Antitheism
I'd say that I'm an anti-theist as in, I think that religion influencing any part of public life, scientific study, law or education should be fought and opposed. Also where religion marginalizes, degrades or abuses people with different beliefs to it's proponents should be eradicated and destroyed as it is a cancer of humanity.

I don't have a problem with someone who quietly believes in whatever fairy-tale they want, as long as it doesn't affect anyone but themselves. But to be honest even then I find it pretty ridiculous. Sad even.
