I'm sure the developers intended exactly that, as some of the hints this guy picks up on are so subtle that it's ridiculous. Like, they didn't even intend people to find most of them. I've never seen anything quite like it, in any medium. That's great. I think it's good to have something to be passionate about, especially if you can pick it apart year after year. Just to hear your opinion (so spoilers, in case anybody doesn't want it ruined); What do you think of the plaques in the prison section? Some people say that they're part of all three characters (James, Angela and Eddie), but others say that they're entirely focused on James (as three sections of his psyche). I like both theories but I don't know which was in the mind of the developers at the time; one of the elements of the game that appears to be incredibly open to interpretation.
I would imagine they were intended to represent both James' personal torment and the other characters as the latter ties symbolically to the former.
I am John Cena's hip-hop album.
Yeah, that's an interesting outlook. ^
Yes, I agree

I think I used this site before actually. It's also good to know what was actually intended by the developers as the true meaning, even if it can still be interpreted in different ways. Also note that it mentions that it is the Goddess of filth, the general aesthetic of the otherworld in Silent Hill 2 (the aesthetic in Silent Hill 1 being blood and rust). I remember reading on one of the Wiki's that the sound you hear is actually supposed to be horses running around the courtyard, but it definitely sounded more like a yell to me.
I remember when I played through the game, I was oblivious to all this.
I was just thinking, "This is weird. Huh. That noise was weird. These tablets are weird." Feel free to send me a private message.
