TX says kill the messenger

TX says kill the messenger
Well not really kill. Two researchers that published an article indicating negative health impact after pulling the plug on planned parenthood are "under fire".

Quote: "Texas Health Commissioner Chris Traylor has not said whether the researchers, one a high-level director with more than 20 years in state government, will be disciplined." "Powerful Republican state Sen. Jane Nelson dismissed the findings as invalid, in part because the research was funded by the nonprofit Susan T. Buffet Foundation, which is a major supporter of Planned Parenthood and other abortion rights groups."

Here is the study.

Powerful Republican State Sen. Jane Nelson wouldn't know an informal fallacy if it bit her on the ass.

You know how biased those nonprofit organizations can be.

I suspect sarcasm. Tongue

Nonprofit organizations aren't free from bias.

The fallacy here is that even people who are biased can do good research. Criticism aimed at who has done the research, as opposed to the content of such is both fallacious and disingenuous.

Ayup. That fallacy's so informal it wears wellies to a Coronation Ball.

I would assume nonprofit organizations are less likely to be biased, since they aren't dependent on any one source of money.
