Atheist struggle news
OK so why not topic about news concerning Atheists struggles and winning in this religion infested world?

TCM devotes a month to films 'condemned' by Catholic Church

Turner Classic Movies next month will air 27 films that the Legion found morally objectionable or even "Condemned."  The series will look at the Legion's dedication to protecting American movie morals and explore how film studios got around some of the Legion's objections.

The series will air every Thursday in March, beginning March 3 at 8 .pm.  Screenings will be hosted by film critic Sister Rose Pacatte, a member of The Daughters of St. Paul and founding director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Good link, as I'd sooner watch a film condemned by Catholics than approved by them.

I miss my extended package cable. It was because of TMC I got to see "A Patch Of Blue" and "Key Largo". And late at night on the weekends they play alot of really horribly good B movies. Shit got too expensive. I find it fucking sick that we live in an age where you have to make monthly payments on a fucking cell phone, much less cable.

John Waters has mentioned the Legion and their list and notes that Baby Doll is what they consider the WORST. I've seen it (even have it parked on my DVR now) and I note that social mores have changed so much since the 50s that today's audiences are going to be confused and bewildered at what the fuss was.

Curiously, the following titles are not on the 'condemned' list:

"Put It Where It Doesn't Belong",
"My Pipes Need Cleaning",
"All Tit-Fucking, Volume 8",
"I Need Your Cock",
"Ass-Worshipping Rimjobbers",
"My Cunt and Eight Shafts",
"Cum Clean",
"Cum-Gargling Naked Sluts",
"Cum Buns 3",
"Cumming in Socks",
"Cum on Eileen",
"Huge Black Cocks with Pearly White Cum",
"Girls Who Crave Cock",
"Girls Who Crave Cunt",
"Men Alone 2: The K-Y Connection",
"Pink Pussy Lips",
"All Holes Filled with Hard Cock"

Ohio School Districts Suspend Student Bible Clubs Amid Complaints by Nation's Largest Atheist Group

The Columbus Dispatch reported Monday that two schools in Fairfield County have temporarily suspended their Bible clubs in response to a complaint letter sent by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

"[FFRF] sent letters to four school districts regarding Bible studies held in eight high schools, junior high schools and middle schools before class or on lunch breaks," reported the Dispatch.
"Such groups violate protections of separation of church and state if they are led or regularly attended by local pastors, said Ryan Jayne, a legal fellow at the Wisconsin-based foundation."

Hmm, interesting. It's good to see the rules being properly upheld.

Here is the thing, the government cant mandate or lead the students, but I don't think a student founded club is illegal, but still, what ends up making this illegal, is if Muslim students or atheist students or gay students wanted to form a club, the Christians would bitch. Once you start saying "I can do this, but you cant" you cease to be applying the First Amendment equally, and that is really what makes it illegal.

The founders were not anti religion, they simply gave us a choice, you either let it all in, or agree to keep the setting neutral. Christians cannot bitch if they do it and others do it, they simply back out because they don't want to share and then falsely claim persecution. It is by design the founders wrote the First Amendment the way they did. They knew once someone started interjecting one sect over another, the other sect would want to do it too, which would end up in a needless fight when the better option is always to leave it at your church on Sunday.

The worst part of their bitching is they don't seem to understand this protects them as well. Let say a majority of kids in a Northern state in a public school are Catholics, and want a Catholic club, then a minority Baptist or Methodist will want a club too, then Jews will want a club and so on and so on and so on.

Well since public schools are not houses of worship the better option, even for students, is to leave it at the door.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation and two of its members sued today a Texas sheriff over his decision to affix Latin cross decals on county patrol vehicles.

Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson announced in December that he "wanted God's protection over his deputies" in deciding to place the prominent crosses on at least five county law enforcement vehicles.

Yeah, if I wanted the protection of a mafia boss, I'd paint a picture of the thing used to kill his son all over my car.
