Surprising number of "police" based charities on there.
Or maybe not so surprising.
Not "police based", just organizations with "police" in the name. You get a sticker for your window that doesn't impress the mountie one bit, except to impress on him how stupid you are.

Unfortunately for the needy, these guys are going to have a tough time rebuilding their credibility.

The discussion needs to occur for consideration of some really drastic penalties on these cretins betraying their donors and the people they are supposed to be helping.
Just firing them so they can go fluff up their resumes and continuing the scam somewhere else seems inadequate. 10-20 hard time at Ossening springs to mind.
Hell, if goddam Alcatraz had been constructed with PVC sewer pipes, the damn thing would still be usable . . . .

Hit them where it hurts: Their bank accounts.
$1,000,000,000 fine for each of them ought to do it.

This is one reason why I have a distaste for the veneration of veterans practiced here in America -- wave that word around and people will do most anything to outpatriot each other.

Viewed from the outside, it certainly seems that way. As long as they can serve as cannon fodder or for some patriotic surge, it's support the troops. But when they end up in the gutter after returning home, noone gives a shit. I've heard that the number of uninsured, untreated and even homeless veterans is supposed to be pretty high.

Yeah.... there's this.

and this:

And the latter does not really consider the "suicide-by-cop" phenomena which are usually classified as crimes to make the cops feel better than suicides.

Exactly. Due to my necrotic hip, I was being treated at Ground Zero for the VA scandal, the hospital at Temple, Texas. I was surprised to find that I would have to wait two months to determine if I had pelvic necrosis or bone cancer.
Two fucking months to find out if it's cancer, that might as well be an eternity. And no one bothered to explain the need for the wait.
Mine isn't combat related, so I didn't raise a fuss ... but when I learnt of the record-falsifying, I began to think, and still do, that someone jimmied my records to hide such a senseless delay.

That amount is unconstitutional.

That's why people need Obamacare. Too bad you didn't have a policy.
