RE: aleprechaunforums.com!
Actually, going back to the OP for a moment, why is it obvious that leprechauns have no proof of their existence? Just because the concept of them is silly? People believe all manner of things that can be regarded as silly. Gods spring to mind.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I get the idea that theists like Mystic, have the the concept that we find it more difficult disbelieving that their god exists, than other mythical being claims.

As if, we are in constant mental battle with ourselves to hold the belief in a god at bay.

Sorry theists, just because you believe your god explains more things (the universe, life, morality), doesn't make it any less silly.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

He also seems to be under the impression that believers themselves are somehow threatening to atheists and their lack of belief, but I find the complete opposite to be true. Listening to believers only makes me more confident that God doesn't exist.

Right. All we ever get is:

1) Personal experiences which can't be verified, to which the theist has just assigned particular meaning (which is almost always to do with the local convenient religion)

2) Flawed logical arguments, backed by no relevant evidence

3) Ridiculous ancient story books

4) Threats

This is not scary, unless the threats turn to actual violence. It's hilariously awful. What is scary is the actions theists take off the back of all this, to try and force their beliefs on others; demonstrating a frustration with their supposed God's inaction as they do so. Not all of them do it, of course. There are very nice theists out there. But enough of them do to cause us atheists major problems.

And even the nice theists indoctrinate their children a lot of the time. I care about the minds of those children and I'll continue to speak out against it. I can't force anyone to stop doing it, but I'd love them to stop and think about what they are actually doing.

Because people like you keep specialising in god. Their god, to be precise. I haven't seen a Loch Ness believer on here, nor have I seen someone offering to leprechauns or fairies.

If that changes, I gladly extend my mockery to them. But to tell the truth, I often asked some of you, why not believe in Zeus, fairies or Leprechauns, Bigfoot even. So it's not as if I wouldn't take note.
