It just happens to be what unites Christians in their belief. Nothing else does.

Circular logic fr0d0.... You are saying that all true Christians accept The Nicene Creed because those who accept The Nicene Creed are true Christians. Where's the explanation that any other followers of and believers of Christ to be the son of and/or God are somehow not true Christians? It's elitist esoteric nonsense and the NTS fallacy if I've ever seen it.

So by that logic EvF you're saying anyone who is actually what is being described have no idea what that thing is but people who aren't have a better idea.
Like a Rastafarian has no idea why he's a Rastafarian, but people who have no idea what Rastafarianism entails, not being rastafarians themselves, can tell the Rastafarian what he believes.
You're talking bollocks Evie. As usual.

What I'm saying is that you are defining "true Christians" as those who accept The Nicene Creed but you don't explain why you are any more right than those who don't accept it and say they are also Christian. You are saying that those who accept The Nicene Creed are true Christians because those who don't aren't true Christians. You aren't explaining anything.

As a body of Christians, Christians all accept the Nicene Creed. It's the one thing they agree upon. If someone were to claim to be a Christian, yet disagree with the terms of the Nicene Creed, then to the entirety of the Christian population, that person wouldn't be a Christian. No "true" bollocks involved. You either are or you aren't.
Now to some bollocks secular definition, you could make up what rules you like to define Christian. Like you're a true atheist because you don't believe in some gods. Get my drift? I can define atheist all I want, but only one definition is actually true.

So you're a human being. Monkeys are not human, but one claims to be human. Other humans point out the qualifications of humanity, but that's circular and illogical so therefore the monkey must be human, because he claims to be.
