Spoils of war. not a problem.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

This is in no way an admission that I would happily do hired hits for large sums.

I said, don't bring the war into it. It's only a wiggle way to justify what one would do in any case if one sees a large amount of dosh lying around ready to be taken. Being honest with myself, I would take it, war or nor war. If I were a billionaire, I might reconsider. Though I very much doubt that.

Now, being honest to myself, I couldn't resist tempation, if it's rubbed right under my nose. Being a made man, just by bending the rules a little bit and sending home some packages of unknown origin. I certainly would have embraced the opportunity, if it presented itself so openly.

What would you do? Be honest now, would you resist tempatation? And keep the enemy part out of it, since it's just a ways to wiggle out of the moral dilemma.

I probably would not resist if desperate.

This started with spoils of war per your documentary and you said "keep the enemy part out". I never mentioned 'enemy'.

I see 'spoils of war' as a significant demarcation from 'stuff just lying around'. And besides, god said I can have the 'spoils of war', so I see no "moral dilemma". Worship

As to what I would do outside spoils of war? I lived out of my broken down car for the better part of a year and never took anything that was not mine, lying around or not.

I'd like to think I'd adhere to my principles.

If I was in the war I'd also be in my youth. Most likely I'd only be concerned with stealing would be life saving armaments. Plus I'd be pushing pretty hard for consensual sex. But then, I didn't need war to do that.

Not at war and at my age about the only thing that I would take if it were just lying around would be cash. Cash with no ones identity tied to it. Lady at the store dropped a $20, didn't notice, and started to walk away. I could have let here walk, then take it. I didn't.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

There's quite a difference between a 20 and an amount of gold setting you up for life. Obviously not some old lady's, but of unknown ownership.

Sorry, thought they were artifacts. Gold + youth, yeah, I'd be walking funny on the way out. Not proud of that.

Let us put this into perspective with a hypothetical scenario.

A Simple Plan

If you found a crashed plane full of gold or cash in a remote spot (and obviously been there for quite some time),  Would you take it, report it or just walk away?

The missing gold/cash is not going to be reported to the authorities of course.
