This, in spades. She would most likely have died if it happened even twenty years earlier, let alone a century. Go back just a little further and even things we hardly notice today, such as abscesses or minor cuts, meant getting the invitations ready for another funeral. We're at the stage now where people have had their hearts stopped and rested to let them repair themselves. There are people walking around who owe their very birth to medical progress.

Little Rik, evolution of soul Is a luxury for survivalist society. People have barely enough resources to make their life somehow happy and their soul or evolution isn't going to fit at all in their life.

Sacrificing all life for afterlife reward is a path of a very few people(those who take it seriously).

No smoking, or drinking, or using drugs, or eating meat and so on is not sacrificing.
In fact is the opposite.
Without crap in your body you live a much better life.
