RE: Headphones
Here's what I use.

It might not fit your needs, but it's worked perfectly for me for almost a year.

RE: Headphones
Back in the 80s Radio Shack had a set of replacement headphones for Walkman type devices. For Radio Shack, they were actually quite excellent headphones, several stereo mags of the time noted their great performance and extremely reasonable price.

I have at least 2 pairs of them somewhere. They were light and comfy. IIRC, less than $20 (that would be like $50 these days).

RE: Headphones
Thank you for all of the suggestions so far guys! I have been looking at some of the suggestions. Bose seem to be on the upper end of the spectrum. Does anyone have experience with the type that go in the ears as opposed to the over the ear ones? They look like they would be more comfortable, especially when it's hot outside. But will they adequately block out the sound of the lawn mower engine? I know the earphones that came with my iPhone do not do this in the least.

Looking at the JLABs, for $30 they would be worth a try. If they don't work out I could give them to my teenage daughter. That girl goes through some earphones! She is so much cooler than I was in school, plays in the band, dyes her hair blue, friends galore. I had to tie a pork chop around my neck to get the family dog to play with me.

Nooo! I still have nightmares about those things. I actually had to cut a yard with one of those for 3 years.

Luckily, the wiring in the Jlabs is reinforced with Kevlar. I suppose that's why they've lasted so long.

Why do I suspect that no matter what headphones you buy, the noise of the mower will still be paramount? Unless of course it's an electric mower.

RE: Headphones
Some time ago, I wasn't very satisfied with my headphones, because I couldn't hear anything from them, when flying.
Then I got those in-ear ones.... and they work... sure, some noise still comes through, but I don't need to get the sound volume up to the max to be able to hear what's coming out of them, loud and clear.

My latest were from Pioneer: https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/prod...712t-l.asp

One, she will cost more than a good set of headphones.

Two, you can turn the headphones off.

Three, you will still end up mowing the lawn but now without headphones.
