First and foremost, I follow myself. To follow another is to lose sight of what it means to be an individual. By all means, respect someone else, but NEVER follow anyone else.

From what I've seen of him, I've been generally impressed so I voted 3.
It's bizarre the amount of people who seem to think atheists automatically agree with what he says. Seriously, it's fucked up. I can only think that they are so used to being handed out dogma that they can't imagine atheism working any other way.
Sometimes what he says is stupid, or I just disagree with. Like everyone, I examine what he says, it's not important that it's him saying it. This is only relevant if it's of a technical scientific nature in his field of expertise, then I can safely assume he probably knows what he's talking about. People will be quick to correct him if he doesn't.

I find a lot of reactions to the things he says or writes are based on what other people report that he says and writes, more than what he actually does. Case in point is the silly "Dawkins believes in aliens" shit, which I'm sick of debunking. Sure, sometimes he says things that I and others disagree with, but then we all disagree with each other half the time anyway. It's called being human. We are a nebulous bunch with no leaders or authority figures, and that's what scares the fundies - they can't pin us down the way we can take out their leaders.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I'm more of a Sam Harris kind of guy.
I see nothing wrong with admiring an author/a scientist, or simply another human being for that matter. No one should be ashamed to do so, regardless of their views concerning gods.

It's really true. And add to that the times critics have writte entire articles against "The Selfish Gene" purely based on the title, without having read further or understood what the book is actually about!

I seriously only know who he is. I've never read anything written by him. So I mostly find it annoying when people accuse me of being a worshipper or a disciple.

This is all you need to know about Dawkins:
Oh and he wrote the Selfish Gene and some other pretty awesome books.
