A world without human intelligence?

That gorilla shooting thread is making me wonder.
As horrible as it is, what we were forced to do to save "our" kind.
But then I thought, maybe the gorilla may have already died by natural means anyway if he wasn't in captivity?
Fighting, disease, etc.
It's hard to imagine what earth would be like today if humans evolved like any other species, but didn't gain intelligence any greater than any other ape?
Would the climate be any different (many more trees on earth?)
Would domesticated animals like cows, sheep, pigs, chickens be of much lesser numbers or more?
Or maybe may have gone extinct by natural means?
There's just so many variables, I can't get my head around even where to start?

Eventually if you look at chimps and monkeys are now in the stone age if we weren't around they would the dominant species
if early man would have died out. Considering given time they would have reached our level of intelligence and there is already
other species out there too that are pretty smart like dolphins and even octopus. So all in all just a lot of time before you start
seeing human like creatures wandering around.

I don't really agree with this view. The only thing non-human apes have that give them any edge other animals is (very limited) ability to pick up and weild tools. Even then, their ability to do so is very rudimentary and disorganised compared to what even Old Stone Age hominids were doing, and they can't communicate through spoken language or form more sophisticated and organised tribal groups either. Unless they develop those skills (which would take millions of years, as it did for our ancestors), they'll never reach a true Stone Age, forget surpass it and move onto real civilisation.
They'll have entered the Stone Age when they're regularly lighting fires and proactively creating and using tools to hunt and gather food (in organised groups). We've seen this in one-off situations but not enough to say it's a widespread new-ape Stone Age.
