To circumcise or not to circumcise?

Well I come from 2 wonderful people who had me circumcised and also a huge loving family filled with circumcised men, we seem to be doing just fine with are parenting, thanks.

Can't be doing too well if you say 'are' parenting instead of 'our' parenting.

I don't see why anyone thinks a parent should be allowed to make this choice for their kid.  It doesn't make them horrible people, but it does mean that they're willing to impose their will on their children.  I'll take a stand against it because I think it's absolutely barbaric.  Don't give a fucking shit if it's 'common'.  Female Genital Mutilation is common in parts of the world.

We had a group shower room at my old senior school, and apart from the usual banter you get between any group of people sharing the same life experiences I don't any actual bullying or even comparing going on. We usually had more important stuff to think about.

The same can't be said about prison.

But . . . considering that most doctors seem to agree that all that is needed to avoid physical problems is simple proper hygiene . . . I vote no.  
Why?  I have a younger brother.  And my first memory of him that is seared into my brain is of the poor little guy screaming.  My Mother was constantly slathering soothing cream on his little newly-circumcised penis.  He couldn't stand for anything to touch the wee red little knob.  I hurt for him.  He doesn't remember, of course, and was better within a day or so . . . but I remember.  Poor little guy.

If it came to be universally medically recommended then I might change my stance on it. But as it stands the only people recommending it wholesale seem to be Americans and it just so happens that circumcision has religious connotations and America is an incredibly religious country
