That and the fact that at school I had a friend who was circumcised, but despite being the only one - as far a I knew - no-one ever took the piss... I don't think anyone even noticed, much less cared.

Right... where is this information coming from?
If children are getting upset about each other's dicks, the solution isn't to cut bits off them until they match, it's to address the underlying problems.
I was a late developer. Even in high school my dick was tiny, and we had communal changing rooms and showers. Of all the things I got bullied about, this was not one of them. Seriously, I've never known guys be interested in each other's dicks, at least in any comparative way. I don't know where the concern is originating.

It is super weird to me that religious people would tear into god's design. Jews especially must be fed up with him repeating the same error time after time.
