Hmm, I get the impression I only know the bowdlerized jody calls.

It is.

The Clinton Foundation has taken loads of donations from foreign countries. This is completely legal. It is also a public charity whose books are public domain. They have been repeatedly inspected by non-profit watch organizations (because big bad Evil Hillary is associated with it) and always received high grades. The only time they didn't receive a high grade, they just weren't graded that year because the foundation absorbed other non-profits under the umbrella, and the costs associated with that would produce skewed results, as told by the reviewing agency.

Before she announced her campaign over a year ago, Clinton stepped down from the board of directors of the Clinton Foundation. The Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign has not taken any money from foreign governments.

It's interesting to know the actual kind of backstory that gets turned into "ARREST THE WITCH SHE TAKE MONEY FROM MOOSLIM ARABS" by conspiracy nuts

I must have missed the memo, when did my lack of belief in god(s) assign to me a political position?

Your prompt reply would be helpful, as I would shudder at the thought of marching out of lockstep.

I seem to have opened a can of worms... I mean no offense by implying a sort of comradery among non-believers due to their having one major thing in common.  The main point of the post, though (and it doesn't matter if two individuals are bitter enemies or besties), is to say fighting over politicians is just crazy.

Yes, we very much should debate and argue and get really fucking pissed about our own political views.  Certainly, cast a vote for the one who most closely matches you beliefs, as well as meets what you think is best for our society.  I am not even slightly implying I'm in charge, I only have an opinion (which I'll share without prompt).  So, no lock-step required sir.  :Smile  Fighting over Hillary and Trump just seems... like drinking the Kool-Aid.  It seems as though we are being heavily manipulated.

Am I alone here? Am I alone?

The two are NOT the same. Hillary is center right and that part I do not like, but this is for me what the entire party, no one politician. Dems are on the right side of history, our problem is we have not had the same long term ground game organization and we have allowed as voters to have our politicians held hostage by the old white cold war narrative.

I never said or implied they are the same, only that they are not a true representation of anything. I agree with your final remark.

Politics is a slimy, messy business; but our efforts to clean up the disgusting fluids in DC have led us here; as that disgusting mess was the oil in the gears of our system. Seniority, choice committee spots, earmarks, big donors to the Party...that's how people with opposing agendas were able to work together. To use a different metaphor, the favor trading and Party apparatus and policy wonks acting as the guardians of Party conformity and back room deals were the tools politicians used to get things done, and those we haven't blunted, we've taken away. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but we've left the major parties without many incentives to work together and not much in the way of consequences for not working together. This is why the Tea Party was just able to breeze into the GOP, and the Democrats are vulnerable to the same type of disease (to switch metaphors yet again).
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Nice Mister. Any predictions? Not about Clinton v. Trump, about the future of our political system.

For me personally it's not a major thing I have in common with everyone else here. Just one tiny tidbit to build upon, if other parameters are met. With some I seem to have much more in common, with some, nothing at all, apart from that tiny kernel.

And fighting over politicians isn't crazy at all. They determine our quality of life. In the case of who's able to park their ass in the White House, they influence everyone's life on the globe. Because of the American ability to make or break economy, because of interventionalism and the quality thereoff.
