Hello Folks. This is going to sound like an NPR commercial, and it is intended to. Smile

Recent events on the site have led to a little bit of a fear of the 'direction' of AF due to bowing to the Evil Google Overlords (known henceforth as EGO). The EGO provide a steady income for the site on the Guest user side, meaning if you're not logged in to AF.org with a user account, you will see ads on certain pages, which drive revenue. Unfortunately, those ads have rules.

To overthrow the EGO, we need small donations from any user that can afford it. Literally anything will help.

If you can afford .50 cents a month, $1 a month, $2 a month, please consider signing up to be a site patron. The good thing about Patreon is that it is a set it and forget it type system. You just have to do it once, and you can turn it off if you can no longer afford it or no longer use the site, or pause it if money is tight for a while.

Another great thing is that you can also see how many users are donating how much, so once we hit or exceed our goal, everyone can back down on donations and share the load equally if they want to.

$20 per month for server costs.
$5 per month for server image backups.
$5.60 per month for remote backups.

$27.64 per year for domain renewals.

Total: ~$33 a month before tax, or $43 a month after tax.

If we aim for $50 a month then we have some leeway for unexpected costs, server upgrades, etc.

There are hundreds of regular, active users. We should have no problem hitting this goal. If you feel like AF.org provides entertainment and community to be worth the cost of a can of soda or an energy drink per month, please consider signing up. Thanks!!!

SC and I are the first to become Patrons. Can we get anyone else on board? Also, SC, would it be alright if I added the URL to my sig line?

I can't right now. For the last couple of years I'm trying to keep myself afloat. But if I shipped the cliff that is july, I might be able to donate a moderate sum.

I avoid doing online transactions requiring personal information, unless absolutely necessary. I would happy to donate if I can use a pre-loaded gift or debit card.

I'll look into it.

I'm in.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I'm gonna stick with donations. Never know when I may need to pool or rocket off. You're all unfair bastards. (sarcasm test)

Voice of experience here:

I have ponied up in the past, and I can assure all, it was a fun and sexy thing to do.

There was no sticky residue, no stranger was wandering around the house while I slept after doing the deed, no pubic hair lodged in the dental work, there was no threat of transmissible contagion, and it was psychologically satisfying.

Better than 95% of my Saturday nights lately . . .
