That last sentence just described the game EP, I've met more people in the last few weeks than I have the last few years.
@Nymph, says the person bitching about it.

There could be way more fun, intelligent things done with this kind of technology, instead of catching random pokemons. Like a game in which you meet random users of the same thingy and socialize with them, I don't know, I'm not a developer. Then don't play it! Why do you care if other people enjoy it?

The difference being I don't hate a game because it has the potential to cause accidents or become an excuse. It's their fault for not being aware, and people are going to do it regardless. let's see how you feel when it's your property that gets damaged and you can't nail the person who did it because they got scared and drove off. Like I said - accountability. And yes - this can and does happen with other situations. But this game has been all over the news lately in large part due to the damage the people playing the game are causing. It's sad that a game is causing so many real world problems to the point that it's making headlines all over the place. We had our evening meeting with our teacher last night and this game was brought up. Our corporate office is now contacting the owners of the building we are in to see what can be done. Those of us in school at night don't get out until after 10pm. With all these cars coming by, it's not safe for the students who are trying to get to their vehicles due to other people not paying attention. We've been told to leave in pairs because apparently these people are also geting out of their vehicles as well. Our school is concerned for the safety of its students and they are concerned enough that they are considering asking the local police to increase their presence at night. Well, yeah, but you could make the same thing without this particular mechanism, I mean. Like searching for characters(people disguised as something else in the program) for instance. Then you wouldn't be as insanely looking at your phone all the time, I reckon. One should try to be aware and considerate, and try not to hit the panic button 'cos people are having fun. Better use the buddy system! People are outside! The horror! Call the police!
You should understand that our parking lot is dead at night with the exception of the students and staff at school. Having damn near 60 cars an hour flow through the lot is excessive. So I think it's safe to say that hit and runs were nil until this game started. Besides, why the hell should I have to pay higher premiums because I had to file a claim due to someone else's ignorance? No sorry, the game or the people playing it don't get a free pass on that argument.
You want to mock the fact that the school is trying to be proactive in keeping its students safe, but if it were your daughter or son that was a night student and they had to walk through a parking lot that was normally safe to walk through, and there was a risk of them getting mugged or hurt or worse, then I would think you'd want the school to do something. I guess until it happens to you or until you are actually faced with the reality of a situation, you can remain ignorant. Again, wah. Accidents, happen. Being mad at dumb people being irresponsible is one thing, but trying to blame a game is just retarded. The game developers responsibility, if there arguably is any, ends at warning labels and reminders.
There is always a risk, whether you're aware of it or not. Being prepared and aware is what I'll rely on keeping my kids safe when they're old enough to be away from me, cops won't always be there but stupid people most likely will. Mocking my school for doing something you just said you would do is stupid. I think we're done here. Like I said - keep remaining ignorant. You have no idea of what others deal with when it's not directly affecting you so why should you care? Oh that's right. You don't. No, telling people to buddy up because people are outside playing a game is stupid. It's called overreacting.
Oh, and acting like I don't care because I don't agree with your argument is ridiculous. Get bent, Nymph. |
