Guess that explains the doo rag too.

You're lucky, I'm pretty mellow as far as gangbangers go.

I've graduated passed Atheism to Anti-theism. Actively opposing bad ideas like religion is the only intellectually honest position to take if you think the world is better off without religion.
EDIT: And since religion is slowly dying thanks to the internet, I've mostly switched to mocking regressives on the left and right of the political spectrum.
If the hypothetical idea of an afterlife means more to you than the objectively true reality we all share, then you deserve no respect.
For years, teaching in a Catholic school, I was a passive atheist.
Suddenly I became an active one and subsequently lost my job. Since, I have been a rampant atheist. Again, I'm surprised at how many seem to feel no inclination to advocate for atheism. I basically agree that it's almost always futile to try to debate a believer. (At least online there's a text history of the exchange, which makes it harder for them to deny what they said.) What form my activism takes is a constant issue. I guess it mainly takes the form of sharing the more serious atheist memes on Facebook. I rarely share things that ridicule religion (though occasionally can't help myself). More often I'll share memes that quote famous and respected people as a way of keeping people thinking about the subject. The trend (except in Indonesia, where Islam is growing via poplulation growth), is a decline in belief (due to unstoppable information). I just want to try and hasten that trend by continuously reminding believers that belief is illogical, divisive, unfair, etc. I certainly try to avoid being an "asshole" about it. I would like to show that atheists are serious and concerned for the future of the planet and our lives on it. Atheism is the most compassionate and realistic stance. |
