 in my part of the world, they feel attacked when you say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", so it's a puzzle.  

Why does majority status so promote entitlement and intolerance?  It seems to be systemwide.

The fact someone is wishing me well at all is something I appreciate. I don't feel the need to analyse which parallel universe their phrasing makes the most sense in.

Sure, I don't expect hardly any of the theists on this site to change their minds about any of it. It has happened a couple of times though. At least two quite significant changes of opinion that I can recall, since I've been here.

My target is the wider audience, I believe something like 95% of our viewers aren't members. I hope to provide some food for thought for all those lurkers out there. Theists providing fallacious defences only strengthens my position.

From my perspective as generally a lurker and not a great conversationalist, my own atheist position is greatly improved both by your (and other atheists) good arguments and theist's transparency and bad arguments... so thanks Rob and theists for what you do for me

I wouldn't feel right mentioning names or times, but someone abandoned creationism in favour of evolution (but remained a theist), and someone else abandoned being a theist altogether and became firmly grounded in atheism.

I would love to actively promote atheism.  I would love a way to actively promote atheism without the religious folks feeling like they are being attacked . . . but in my part of the world, they feel attacked when you say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", so it's a puzzle.  

I feel ya on this so much. I would get attacked for 'attacking' their religion if I said happy holidays.... some people.

Wow... two known changes of mind in seven years of this site... I don't know whether to laugh or to cry... probably both
