State broadcasters are back online. Seems as though the talking head consensus as this moment is that it's failed.
Wouldn't bet against Erdogan consolidating power even more and accelerating towards greater autocracy.

He's landed in Istanbul, Ankara is seeing some fighting apparently but it looks like the coup has lost.

Coup forces are surrendering across the board. Damn.

If the coup fails, it seems likely Endogan would seize the opportunity to violently purge any kamalist element from the military and significant positions in civil society, and scapegoat all social ills on anti-Islamist fractions in more civilized and developed parts of the country, in something like the aftermath of the Iranian revolution in 1979. Unless another much more violent and successful coup is immediately relaunched to overthrow Endogan before that happens, I think failure of this coup would mark the beginning of tha very rapid process of conversion of turkey into a semi-autocratic, semi-theocratic failed state.
This would probably mark the single most devastating defeat of secular modern influence in the modern world.

I've heard that the turkish public believes in some capacity that this is fake, and that Erdogan merely wants to have a reason to further his powers.

Hmm, a Reichstag Fire moment? That could backfire easily.

Yeah, it's pretty much failed. The death toll has risen to 90 with over 1,154 wounded.according to state-run media.
