I missed most of the angst. When I was fourteen I made friends with a new guy at school. He took me home and introduced me to his father, a one-legged Marine that officers saluted first. He took me under his wing and showed me how to be very, very dangerous. From there self-confidence was easy, and the usual teenage baggage was slightly amusing.

Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
